Spartanburg, SC (Sports Network) - Drew Crowell scored a game-high 19 points,
leading four starters in double figures, as the Wofford Terriers easily
defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts, 82-56, in a Southern Conference
matchup at the Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Karl Cochran added 16 points for the Terriers (15-8, 8-3 SoCon), followed by
Brad Loesing who registered a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10
assists. Kevin Giltner accounted for 13 points and six rebounds as the
Terriers won their sixth straight game.
The Catamounts (9-14, 3-7) were paced by Trey Sumler with 13 points, Tawaski
King delivered 12 points and both Brandon Boggs and Keaton Cole tacked on 10
points apiece as they lost their fourth in a row.
Wofford scored the first points of the night and used 53.8 percent shooting
from the floor in the half to claim a 31-19 edge at the break. WCU converted
just eight total field goals through the first 20 minutes of action.
In the second half the Terriers were even more accurate from the field (.643)
and also knocked down an impressive 9-of-14 behind the three-point line in
taking the 26-point home win.
Wofford assisted on all but six of 32 field goals in the meeting, compared to
the Catamounts who recorded a mere four dishes and turned the ball over 17
times on the night.
