Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Kyle Fogg scored 23 points to lead the Arizona
Wildcats to a 78-74 victory over the California Golden Bears in Pac 12
Conference action at the Haas Pavilion.
Jesse Perry added 18 points for Arizona (15-8, 6-4 Pac-12) while Nick Johnson
chipped in 11 points and five assists.
Harper Kemp led Cal (17-6, 7-3) with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jorge
Gutierrez finished with 18 points and Allen Crabbe netted 15 points. The
defeat snapped the Golden Bears' 17-game home winning streak.
The Wildcats outscored the Bears 36-12 to close out the opening period and
take a 45-34 lead into the intermission. Arizona shot 63 percent from the
field including 5-of-8 from three-point range in the first half, while the
Golden Bears connected on 45.2 percent of their field goals but went 0-of-3
from beyond the arc in the first frame.
Cal charged back in the second half by outscoring the Wildcats 26-16 in the
paint. The contest was tied 72-72 with 1:23 remaining before Fogg hit a clutch
three-pointer to give the Wildcats the lead. Arizona led by three with 11
seconds to play when Perry made a free throw to seal the victory.
Despite the loss, Cal held a 37-27 advantage in the rebounding battle.
