Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) -Rakim Sanders scored 14 of his game-high 22
points in the second half to carry Fairfield to a 60-54 victory over Manhattan
at Webster Bank Arena.
Sanders, who shot 8-of-13 from the field, also totaled nine rebounds. Desmond
Wade had 13 points and Maurice Barrow 11 for the Stags (14-10, 9-4 MAAC), who
won their fourth in a row.
George Beamon had 19 points and Michael Alvarado 13 for the Jaspers (17-9,
10-4), who have lost back-to-back contests after winning eight straight.
Rhamel Brown tallied 11 points for the Jaspers, who failed to rally after
going 6-of-20 from the field in the opening half.
Manhattan's early poor shooting put the visitors in a 26-18 hole at the half.
Fairfield actually led 8-0 and then widened the game to 44-29 with 11:20
remaining following a Sanders dunk.
It was at least a two-possession game the rest of the way.
Fairfield made 39.6 percent of its shots and forced 16 turnovers.
