Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Javarris Barnett scored 18 points to lead the
Charlotte 49ers to a 73-66 win over the Rhode Island Rams in an Atlantic 10
Conference clash at Halton Arena.
Pierria Henry added 14 points in the win for Charlotte (12-11, 4-6 A-10),
while Jamar Briscoe tallied 13 points. DeMario Mayfield finished with a
double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for the 49ers, who have won back-
to-back contests.
Billy Baron posted a game-high 24 points to pace Rhode Island (5-21, 2-9),
which also got 14 points and eight rebounds from Orion Outerbridge.
The Rams were kept in check to the tune of a meager 26.7 percent shooting
during the opening stanza, allowing Charlotte to take a commanding 40-25 lead
into the break.
The 49ers hit just 37.5 percent of their attempts from the floor during the
second frame, but a 15-of-30 effort at the foul line helped to stave a late
Rhode Island rally and earn the squad a seven-point victory.
The Rams shot just 35.4 percent from the field during the contest, and were
guilty of a game-high 20 giveaways.
