Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday
provided updates on the respective statuses of catcher Brian Schneider and
first baseman Ryan Howard.
Schneider underwent an MRI which revealed a high ankle sprain, and he is
expected to be fully recovered in 3-to-5 weeks. The 35-year-old backstop was
injured on Sunday when Tampa's Sean Rodriguez collided with him on a play at
the plate.
He was hitting .232 in 26 games this season.
Howard, who has not played in the majors since suffering a torn Achilles
tendon on October 8, will return to Philadelphia for additional testing on the
injury.
If the test goes well, Howard is slated to begin a rehab assignment at Single-
A Lakewood this coming Thursday.
