HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets have taken Minnesota native Royce White with the 16th pick in the NBA draft, their second of three first-round selections.
The 6-foot-8, 270-pound forward initially enrolled at Minnesota, then transferred to Iowa State, where he played his lone college season. He averaged 13.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and five assists per game last season.
White played his his high school basketball and DeLaSalle High School and his senior season at Hopkins High School.
The Rockets also traded for another Minnesota-born player on Wednesday. Orono's Jon Leuer was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to Houston as part of a multiple-player deal.
