MINNEAPOLIS - NFL players and seven-foot tall Vikings are not a normal sight in downtown Minneapolis.
But on Wednesday morning, Vikings rookie Harrison Smith and their mascot, Viktor, were wandering the streets, looking for a few lucky fans.
Smith handed out 150 pairs of tickets to Vikings games this year to fans who had no idea what he was doing. The only requirement that Smith had was that the recipients had to be Vikings fans. And, he didn't have any trouble finding excited purple-backers.
Several kids were at a bank as part of "Take Your Kids To Work" day. They all learned a little more than what their parents do as most of them will be heading to games this year.
And the best story of the day was a woman working at an information desk. She answered every question that Smith had and even gave him a map and directions to the Metrodome. When he offered her two sets of tickets, she was completely stunned, even asking, "Are you serious?"
Smith was serious, and on Wednesday morning, he made many new fans in the Twin Cities.
