Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - With the Chicago White Sox reeling, losing five of six games and seeing their lead in the AL Central shrink to one game over the Detroit Tigers, Alex Rios delivered a career performance at a perfect time. Rios knocked in a career-best six runs on two home runs and the White Sox topped the Minnesota Twins, 6-2, in the rubber match of a three-game set. Starting pitching had plagued the White Sox during their slump, as their starters posted a 7.47 earned run average over their last seven starts heading into Wednesday. But, a night after Jose Quintana gave up seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, Jake Peavy (10-10) held the Twins to one run on five hits and a walk to pick up his first win since Aug. 1. P.J. Walters (2-3), making his first start since June 13 because of a shoulder injury, surrendered six runs on five hits and three walks in five-plus innings.

Final Score: LA Angels of Anaheim 7, Oakland 1

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Torii Hunter knocked in three runs and Dan Haren tossed six solid innings, as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim beat the Oakland Athletics, 7-1, to complete a three-game series sweep. Howie Kendrick added two RBI for the Angels, who recorded their first sweep in Oakland since Oct. 2-4, 2009. Haren (10-10) allowed one run on three hits to pick up the victory. He struck out seven and walked three. Seth Smith drove in the lone run for the Athletics, who entered this series on a nine-game winning streak. Brandon McCarthy (8-6) gave up three runs on five hits before exiting the game with a head injury. In the top of the fourth, Erick Aybar hit a line drive back at McCarthy. The ball nailed McCarthy on the side of the head, sending the Oakland starter to the ground. He did not experience a loss of consciousness and was taken to Summit Hospital for precautionary reasons.
