Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres have signed Chris
Denorfia to a contract extension, which will keep the outfielder with the team
through the 2014 season.
Denorfia, 32, is batting .290 with six homers, 30 RBI and nine stolen bases in
109 games this year.
"We are excited to extend Chris to a two-year contract through 2014," said
Padres general manager Josh Byrnes. "He has proven to be a valuable and
versatile player for us over the last three seasons, and his style of play is
infectious."
In parts of three seasons with San Diego, Denorfia has hit .279 with 20
homers, 85 RBI, 120 runs scored and 28 stolen bases over 319 games.
Denorfia, who was a 19th-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Reds in 2002, has
batted .279 with 23 homers, 104 RBI, 153 runs scored and 32 stolen bases in
419 career games with the Reds, Oakland Athletics and Padres.
