Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Rajai Davis hit a solo home run and drove in
three on Wednesday and the Toronto Blue Jays avoided a three-game sweep with a
6-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
The Blue Jays, who were shut out in the first two games of the series, took a
3-2 lead in the seventh inning when Adeiny Hechavarria plated Yunel Escobar
with a bunt single off Miguel Gonzalez (6-4).
Davis added a two-run single later in the frame to help Toronto halt a four-
game slide.
Brandon Morrow gave up two runs on three hits, including a solo homer to Adam
Jones, over a six-inning start and Steve Delabar (4-1) tossed a 1-2-3 seventh
to pick up the win.
Casey Janssen allowed Mark Reynolds' ninth-inning, two-run homer before
striking out Omar Quintanilla to end the game.
Gonzalez, who was relieved after Hechavarria's go-ahead bunt, was charged with
five runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Jones opened the scoring with a leadoff homer in the second inning and Manny
Machado had a bases-loaded RBI groundout later in the frame, but the Orioles
eventually saw their three-game win streak come to an end.
They entered the game tied with the New York Yankees atop the AL East.
The Blue Jays scored their first run of the series in the second when Adam
Lind led off with a single and scored on Kelly Johnson's double, which reached
the wall in right-center field.
Davis tied the game an inning later with his seventh homer of the season.
Escobar began the seventh with a double, advanced to third on Johnson's bunt
single and scored when Hechavarria dropped a base hit in front of home plate.
Anthony Gose followed with a single off Luis Ayala and scored on a throwing
error by Jones after Davis' base hit to center.
Baltimore placed runners on first and second with one out in the eighth before
pinch-hitter Lew Ford grounded into a double play.
