Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Francisco Liriano took a no-hitter into the
seventh inning and the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota
Twins, 5-3, in the second test of a three-game series.
Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run homer in the seventh to end Liriano's no-hit bid.
That was the only hit Liriano (6-11) gave up in seven innings of work, as the
left-hander struck out nine and walked two against his former team.
Paul Konerko homered and knocked in three runs for the White Sox, who lead the
Tigers by 1 1/2 games for first place in the division. Alexei Ramirez and
Gordon Beckham added an RBI apiece.
Samuel Deduno (6-4) allowed four runs on three hits over four innings for the
Twins, who have lost the first two games of this series. He fanned six and
walked five.
