Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics have waived veteran guard
Keyon Dooling, who announced his retirement through agent Kenge Stevenson.
"Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it's time
to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family," said Stevenson
via a release on the team's website. "He will never forget his time in Boston
with the Celtics."
Dooling averaged 4.0 points, 1.1 assists and 14.4 minutes in 46 games -- two
starts -- with the Celtics during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season. In the
playoffs, he chipped in 2.8 ppg and shot a team-high 39.3 percent from 3-
point range.
"We'll miss Keyon's spirit and energy, both on and off the court," said
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. "The whole Celtics
family wishes him well as he enters the next phase of his life."
The 10th overall pick out of the University of Missouri in 2000, Dooling owns
career averages of 7.0 points, 2.2 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 721 games -- 86
starts -- with the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, New Jersey
Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Celtics.
