New York, NY (Sports Network) - Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry
Fitzgerald, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons and New York Giants
kicker Lawrence Tynes have been selected as the NFC's top players for Week 3
of the NFL season.
Fitzgerald had nine catches for 114 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals'
27-6 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He became the youngest player in
NFL history to reach 700 career receptions with the performance at 29 years,
23 days, surpassing Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (30 years, 133 days). It is
Fitzgerald's second career weekly award.
Clemons recorded a career-high four sacks during the Seahawks' 14-12 win over
the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. All four of Clemons' sacks came in the
second quarter as Seattle's defense held the Packers to 268 total yards and
finished with eight sacks. Clemons took home his third player of the week
award.
Tynes received his third career weekly award by connecting on a career-high
five field goals in New York's 36-7 decision over the Carolina Panthers on
Thursday. He made kicks of 47, 49, 30, 36 and 27 yards, while also connecting
on three extra-point attempts.
