Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens officially ended the
season of cornerback Lardarius Webb, placing him on injured reserve Tuesday.
Webb suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during
Sunday's 31-29 win against the Dallas Cowboys and did
not return. He departed late in the first quarter with an apparent
leg injury, which was later downgraded to knee sprain. While defending a
pass, Webb turned and his leg twisted awkwardly underneath him.
Jimmy Smith is expected to take Webb's slot, starting on Sunday, Oct. 21 when
the Ravens play in Houston.
To fill the roster spot, the Ravens elevated running back Bobby Rainey from
the practice squad to the active roster.
