Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward
Kevin Love is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks after breaking his right hand on
Wednesday.
Love broke the third and fourth metacarpal in his hand during a morning
workout. The four-year pro will be examined by Dr. Andy Weiland, a hand
specialist at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, on Thursday.
Ironically, Love fractured his left hand during the preseason in mid-October
of 2009 and sat out the first 18 games of the subsequent regular season before
returning on Dec. 4. Weiland also performed the surgery for that injury.
Love finished fourth in the NBA with a career-high 26.0 points-per-game
scoring average and was second overall in rebounding (13.3 avg.) last season,
garnering his second consecutive All-Star nod. The 6-foot-10 UCLA product led
the league with an average of 15.2 rebounds per game in 2010-11.
