Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Former Boston hitting coach Dave Magadan has
been hired to serve the same role with the Texas Rangers.
The 50-year-old Magadan spent the last six seasons with Boston. During that
span, the Red Sox led the majors in doubles (2,089) and extra-base hits
(3,385). They also ranked second in runs (5,011), hits (9,196) and third
with a .273 batting average.
Scott Coolbaugh, who had been the Rangers' hitting coach since June 2011, will
be offered another position in the organization.
