San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt
Holliday was removed from the starting lineup prior to Sunday's Game 6 of the
National League Championship Series after experiencing back tightness during
pregame warmups.
Holliday was scheduled to hit third and play left field for the Cardinals'
matchup with the San Francisco Giants. Matt Carpenter will come off the bench
to play first base under the new arrangement, with Allen Craig shifting from
first to left field.
Carpenter will hit second in the revised batting order, with Carlos Beltran
shifting from the No. 2 spot into Holliday's place.
Holliday has gone just 4-for-21 with no extra base hits during the NLCS, in
which the Cardinals hold a 3-2 lead over the Giants heading into Sunday's
matchup at AT&T Park.
