East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - A man was critically injured on Sunday after falling from an escalator on his way out of MetLife Stadium following the New York Giants' 27-23 victory over the Washington Redskins.

New Jersey State Police say the 42-year-old man fell over the side of the escalator and dropped nearly 21 feet onto a metal stage.

He was airlifted to Hackensack University Hospital and reported to be in critical condition with severe head injures.

An investigation as to how the man fell is ongoing.
