South Bend, IN (Sports Network) - Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said
Everett Golson will be the starting quarterback Saturday when the fifth-ranked
Irish visit No. 8 Oklahoma.
Golson sat last week against BYU after suffering a concussion the previous
Saturday against Stanford. Tommy Rees started against the Cougars and helped
the Irish to a 17-14 win to remain unbeaten.
Kelly said he wanted Golson to be 100 percent before returning.
"He's good, 100 percent and he'll start for us against Oklahoma on Saturday,"
said Kelly at a Tuesday press conference.
Golson has completed 58.5 percent of his passes for 968 yards with four
touchdowns and three interceptions in six games, including five starts, for
the Irish this season.
Rees, who led the Irish to a tying field goal and overtime touchdown against
Stanford after Golson left the contest late in the fourth quarter, completed
just 7-of-16 passes for 117 yards with a touchdown and an interception last
week against BYU.
