Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Trevor Lacey nailed a three-pointer at the
buzzer to lift the Alabama Crimson Tide to a 70-67 victory over the South
Dakota State Jackrabbits as part of the 2K Sports Classic at Coleman Coliseum.
Trevor Releford paced Alabama (1-0) with 18 points off the bench. Rodney
Cooper had 17 points while Lacey added 15. Andrew Steele also reached double
figures with 11 points off the bench.
South Dakota State (0-1) wasted a 30-pount effort from Nate Wolters in the
loss. Jordan Dykstra had 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
The Jackrabbits held a 29-27 advantage heading into the locker room after
shooting 48.0 percent from the floor while holding Alabama to 36.0 percent.
In the second half both teams improved with Alabama shooting at a 59.3 percent
clip and South Dakota State at 52.0 percent.
The Crimson Tide led by four (67-63) with a little over a minute remaining.
The Jackrabbits then tied the game at 67-67 with a pair of Wolters' free
throws and a jumper from Tony Fiegen but Lacey netted the game winner to
secure the win.
Alabama outscored South Dakota State 24-8 on points in the paint and 21-6 on
points off the bench.
