Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Steven Pledger scored 15 points to lead four
Sooners in double figures as Oklahoma coasted to an easy 85-51 triumph over the
ULM Warhawks in non-conference action at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Oklahoma (1-0) had balance as Amath M'Baye and Andrew Fitzgerald scored 12
points each and Je'lon Hornbeak added 10 points and five assists. M'Baye also
grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Isaiah Cousins and Sam Grooms both dished
out five assists as the Sooners picked up a victory in their season opener.
Amos Olatayo scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds to
lead ULM (0-1) in the contest. Jayon James dealt out four assists, but the
Warhawks struggled offensively and converted only 34.5 percent of their field
goal attempts in the loss.
The Sooners used a 17-2 run to build a 27-13 lead in the opening half. Oklahoma
went into the intermission with a 38-22 advantage after it shot 41.7 percent
from the field and a percent 4-of-4 at the foul line in the opening 20 minutes.
The Warhawks fell behind after going 0-for-8 from three-point range in the
first half.
The second half was not much different as the Sooners improved to 53.1 percent
shooting from the floor and led by as many as 36 points after the break.
Oklahoma held a 49-30 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the Warhawks,
42-26, in the paint.
