Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - George Winn rushed for 119 yards and a pair
of touchdowns to lead the Cincinnati Bearcats to a 27-10 victory over the
South Florida Bulls in Big East Conference action at Nippert Stadium.
Brendon Key completed 17-of-27 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown for the
Bearcats (8-3, 4-2 Big East), and he also rushed for 48 yards and another
score. Travis Kelce led all receivers with seven receptions for 58 yards and a
touchdown.
For USF (3-8, 1-5), Matt Floyd completed just 21-of-39 of his passes for 176
yards and was sacked four times. Demetrius Murray rushed for 68 yards and
scored the Bulls only touchdown.
The Bearcats logged the only score of the first quarter when Key rushed in an
18-yard touchdown midway through the frame.
Key used his arm to add to Cincinnati's lead late in the second quarter when
he connected on a three-yard scoring strike to Kelce. After a missed PAT, the
Bearcats took a 13-0 into halftime.
USF finally got on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter when Maikon
Bonani connected on a 25-yard field goal, but Cincinnati answered a few
minutes later with a Winn three-yard touchdown rush to go up, 20-3.
Winn added another touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, this time from
four yards out, to extend the Bearcats lead.
Murray ran in a five-yard touchdown later in the quarter for the Bulls' first
and only touchdown, which brought them to within 17 with 7:19 to play, but
that would be the last score of the game.
USF held a three-minute advantage in time of possession and converted 8-of-18
third down attempts, but it only had two red zone drives on the night.
