Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Devin Booker registered a double-double with 15
points and 11 rebounds to lead the Clemson Tigers to a 59-44 victory over the
Marist Red Foxes in the fifth place game of the Old Spice Classic at HP Field
House.
Adonis Filer contributed 10 points and eight rebounds for Clemson (4-1) as it
notched its second consecutive win.
Devin Price paced Marist (2-4) with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the
field. Adam Kemp pulled down a team-best six rebounds in the losing effort.
The Tigers were in control early on in the contest thanks to a 13-2 run that
gave them a 17-6 lead with 6:41 left to play before halftime. Marist closed
out the half with a 15-5 run of its own to go into the intermission trailing
22-21. Clemson managed to take a lead into the break despite shooting just 36
percent from the floor in the opening half. The Red Foxes missed 14 of their
first 15 attempts from the field.
The contest was tied, 32-32, with 13:53 left to play before Clemson produced
an 18-2 run to take a commanding lead. The Tigers outscored Marist in the
paint by a 26-12 margin over the final 20 minutes to coast to the 15-point
decision.
Clemson held a 40-26 advantage in the rebounding battle.
