EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - St. Paul Highland Park junior Gao Lee finished off a perfect badminton season last Thursday by winning the state singles title in three tough sets. Lee lost the first set to challenger Law Law of St. Paul Central, but rallied to win the final two sets and the title.
Its the first individual state championship for a Highland Park player since 2009.
Lee combined both power and a few well played drop shots to win state.
Lee's final record was 29-0, including three wins over Law this season. Lee says her hard work paid off and she'll be back against next year.
