MINNEAPOLIS -- Dressed for Minnesota weather KARE's cameras captured Mike Zimmer as he arrived at Winter Park Wednesday morning.
By afternoon, fans pulling up to the Metrodome to grab a piece of history were wondering about the team's future leader.
Paul Anderson said he is excited about the potential.
"I'm excited about it. I don't know a lot about him but coming from Cincinnati it sounds like he is kind of a fiery guy. So, it will be a little different compared to Leslie Frasier."
In the shadows of the dome, you'll find First Covenant Church, whose parking lot is often home to tailgating Vikings' fans on game day.
Pastor Dan Collison and his team were preparing for Sunday worship service when they heard the news.
"I have heard of him and I hope that he brings the kind of energy and leadership that this organization needs to do a whole new chapter," Collision said.
Bruce Balggard, who has been a Vikings fan since childhood, said he is just happy the team is close to a decision.
"Being a coach is such a complex thing let's just hope for the best," he said. "A new start will be a healthy thing for the team. It is better to have a coach instead of being in limbo but I want to know who our quarterback is. That is going to be the fascinating one."
