ATLANTA (AP) - Falcons coach Dan Quinn has confirmed that defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman is facing domestic violence charges.
Hageman, a second-round draft choice in 2014, was held out of Sunday's season-opening 31-24 loss to Tampa Bay. Quinn said Monday the pending misdemeanor charges in DeKalb County, Georgia were not the reason Hageman was not in uniform.
Hageman played in all 16 games, including 12 starts, in 2015.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Monday Hageman was charged about six months ago with interfering with a call for emergency help, battery family violence and cruelty to children in the third degree. The charges in March followed an incident involving Hageman and the mother of his child.
Quinn says the team immediately notified the NFL in March about the "serious allegations."
