CHICAGO - The Wild are from the State of Hockey and they've never played a game in the great outdoors.
Their college counterparts, the Minnesota Gophers, are about to find out what it's like.
The Gopher mens hockey team will face off in an outdoor game against their rivals from Wisconsin this February 17 in the first-ever Hockey City Classic. The game against the Badgers will take place on a rink constructed inside the windy confines of Chicago's Soldier Field.
Notre Dame will take on Miami of Ohio in the other game of the hockey double header.
This is the first ever outdoor hockey game to be played at Soldier Field. Details of the inaugural event will be announced Wednesday.
