Long history between Vikings and Packers

MINNEAPOLIS - This Sunday the "Green and Gold" come to Vikings territory to help christen the new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. And while the game begins a new era of the long-standing rivalry, there's a long history between the two teams.

The two teams first battled back in 1961 with Green Bay winning 59 times.

Minnesota has won 50 and tied twice. But Green Bay played a Minnesota team long before that -- the Duluth Kelleys/Eskimos in the 1920s.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer downplayed the rivalry. Zimmer says the Vikes need to win a few more games against the Pack.
