Former Gopher says he'll cherish trip to Super Bowl

DENVER - Super Bowl XLVIII, like all championship games, will be filled with storylines in the days and weeks leading up to the big game.

One of those storylines is extra special for Gophers fans who are rooting for one of their own to earn a Super Bowl ring.

Cold Spring native and former Gopher Eric Decker is in his fourth season with the Broncos.

He was their second leading receiver this year and had five catches for 73 yards in Sunday's AFC Championship game.

"We finished (strong) and now we have an opportunity to play in the big game in a couple of weeks," Decker said.

Decker says a trip to the Super Bowl is a dream come true.

"It's a moment that I'll cherish forever," said Decker. "What we've been through throughout the year, how we finished last year, everybody deserves to be at this point. I think it just shows how we stuck together."

The Super Bowl will be held on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium, home to the New York Giants and the New York Jets.
