EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Minnesota Vikings wideout Stefon Diggs is in the midst of a great start to the 2016-2017 season.
How great? On Wednesday Diggs was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the NFL with 182 receiving yards on nine catches in Minnesota’s week two victory over archrival Green Bay.
Diggs currently leads the NFL with 285 receiving yards on 16 catches (17.8 average), becoming just the third Viking with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games in weeks one and two, and the first since Cris Carter did it in 1997. Gene Washington is the only receiver in franchise history to collect more yardage in the first two weeks of a season, racking up 324 yards in the first two weeks of 1969.
During the 2015-2016 season Diggs became the first rookie to lead the Vikings in receptions with 52. A fifth-round selection out of Maryland, Diggs was the 20th wideout selected in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is the ninth different Viking to earn NFC Player of the Week honors under head coach Mike Zimmer.
