Vikings sign WR Michael Floyd

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Maybe a fresh start in his hometown will do him good.

That's likely the approach the Vikings will take with Twin Cities native Michael Floyd, who has reportedly inked a free agent deal with the club. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was the first to go on record with the deal, which he says is worth one year and in the neighborhood of $1.5 million, with incentives that could boost the payout to $6 million.

Rapoport says Floyd, who played his high school ball at Cretin-Derham Hall, has been training in Arizona and is in excellent shape. The talented wideout was released by the Cardinals last season after being charged with DWI, the latest in a string of alcohol-related incidents. Floyd finished the year with the New England Patriots.

Later Wednesday, Floyd tweeted "Happy as ever!!! Can't wait to get to work #SkolVikes"
