USA women's hockey team preps for Olympics in Blaine

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The U.S. women's hockey team is training for the Sochi Olympics with practices in Blaine this week.

Several players with Minnesota ties are expected to be part of the final roster before the games begin in February.

General manager Reagan Carey stopped by KARE 11 Sunrise on Tuesday morning to discuss the Olympic preparations. Carey said the team has been working together since September, and they're pleased with the momentum of the team.

The U.S. women are preparing for a final match-up against Team Canada later this month. Team USA and Team Canada will face off Saturday, December 28 at 3pm at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. KARE 11 sports anchor Dave Schwartz will host a special pre-game "Chalk Talk" starting at 2pm; it's a free event for fans who already have tickets to the game.

Team members will also do the "Let's play Hockey" announcement before the Wild game Tuesday night (December 17) at Xcel Energy Center.
