Bruesewitz ready for the big show

Henry Sibley senior Mike Bruesewitz is playing much more relaxed this year, playing without the worry of a college scholarship. Bruesewitz committed to Wisconsin last year and, with that out of the way, is now focused solely on what lies ahead for his Warriors.

"I'm still trying to get through this school season and trying to a win a state championship," Bruesewitz said.

When it comes to forwards in Minnesota, Bruesewitz is right up with the best. He's also very versatitle. At 6-foot-7, he is the smallest in the Henry Sibley lineup, which has put him at nearly every position on the floor; a circumstance that makes his game much more adaptable to the college level.

"Because of our size, in a lot of schools where Mike would be the biggest kid, he'd be the obvious center and you'd just stick him in the post and that would be all you'd do," said Sibley head coach, Tom Dasovich. "He kind of does all those things for us."

"It'll help a lot of just getting my perimeter skills better, making reads and that kind of stuff. It will help me a lot when I get to Wisconsin," added Bruesewitz.

Bruesewitz is one of a number of big name recruits over the past few years to head east for college. The reason for Mike and many others is Bo Ryan, whose actions have earned him the reputation of doing what it takes to appeal to players.

"He just loves to talk. He is a personable guy and that's probably why he has been so successful. [It's] his ability to relate to many different types of kids," Bruesewitz said of his future head coach.

"Out of all the coaches I had talked to, he is my favorite to talk to," Dasovich added. "Just as a person in general, he is a great guy."

A great guy who nabbed a prize recruit that has just one more bit of business to take care of before he gets to Madison.

"I really just want to get to that state championship game. And play Hopkins in the state championship game."
