Flynn leading new faces on Wolves roster
Al Jefferson feels like he's been traded again. And he should.
The Timberwolves 2009-10 roster looks nothing like last season's. Over the span of a few months, new team president David Kahn made a total of 13 moves: seven new players are in and six are out. Six players were in and out, meaning they have already come and gone without playing a game. And they aren't done yet.
"The team is not done by any stretch of the imagination," admitted Kurt Rambis, the Wolves rookie head coach. "We do have key pieces and we want to build on these pieces and we want to get them understanding what we expect of them and the level of play we're going to except from them to reach an elite level."
Of the new players, all eyes will be on just one: rookie point guard Jonny Flynn, especially since Ricky Rubio, the Timberwolves' first draft pick back in June, never showed up. While it's only been a couple days on campus, Al Jefferson is already comparing Flynn to the best point guard in the NBA.
"That kid is special man, the way he sees the floor," Jefferson said about Flynn. "I think he has a chance to be just as good as Chris Paul, that's my honest opinion. I know that's saying a lot but I really believe that."
"Chris Paul is a great and just to be compared to him before I even play a game is kind of crazy to me," Flynn said. "I'm not even going to comment on that, but hopefully I can be as valuable to this team as he is to the Hornets."
With the roster incomplete and jobs up for grabs, this new coaching staff has its hands full putting all the pieces together. (Copyright 2009 by KARE. All Rights Reserved.)
