GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The Film Independent Spirit Awards, also known as "the indie Oscars," will happen on March 1, right before the Oscars.

In advance of the ceremony, the members of the Walker and Independent Filmmaker Project Minnesota have a chance to see the nominated films in four categories—Best Feature, Best First Feature, Best Documentary, and the John Cassavetes Award—at no charge.

There is a charge to belong to both organizations, so it's not free to the public.

Sheryl Mousley, Film/Video Senior Curator at Walker Art Center and Andrew Peterson, Executive Director IFP Minnesota joined KARE 11 News at 4 to share more about the several films chosen to be screened.
