A breakdown of some of my favorite looks from the 2014 Oscars red carpet. Who do you think were the big winners? Tweet me at @kshoop!
All eyes were on Lupita the moment she stepped out of her limo on Oscar night. She really has been the undisputed queen of the red carpet this season proving she looks amazing in every color of the rainbow. The Best Supporting Actress looked like she was floating in her pale blue Prada gown and sparkly headband.
All hail Cate the Great. Here is someone who knows how to rock amazing works of art consistently on the red carpet. I'm always excited to see what Cate will wear because her choices are daring and different than the typical strapless, solid-colored gowns that are abundant throughout award shows. Cate looks stunning in this nude-colored, bejeweled beauty by Armani. And on a side note, her acceptance speech for Best Actress was just awesome and empowering.
So I know Jennifer Lawrence is the new face of Dior, and she did look beautiful in her red dress, but I just don't think anyone can compete with Charlize Theron in this statuesque, black Dior gown. The silhouette is striking. She looks like an award to me, especially with that necklace that could probably pay for my entire college education. Bravo, Charlize!
If I had my way, I would live my 20s during the 70s wearing this gown every chance I could get. I'm not sure why Kate Hudson was at the Oscars, but I'm sure glad she showed up in this Atelier Versace number complete with a cape. She looks ready for the disco and I'm ready to tag along with her. Side note: how great would it have been if Amy Adams wore this instead to pay homage for her role in "American Hustle"?
Frank Underwood never looked so good. I'm always happy when I see a navy suit appear on the red carpet and I was even more happy to see Kevin Spacey looking sharp in this Burberry tuxedo. He sure looks ready to rule the country in season 3 of "House of Cards."
It's unclear which got more attention at the Oscars: Jared Leto or Jared Leto's hair. I can say I enjoyed both. Jared is a rocker and his black and white tux by Saint Laurent with burgundy bow tie was fun, appropriate and classy. As for his hair, I'm contemplating bringing a photo of his flawless ombré to my hairstylist. I'll have the "Jared Leto," please.
