MINNEAPOLIS--Think you have a Parks and Recreation or Modern Family up your sleeve? NBC is all ears. The network just announced an unprecedented effort to find fresh comedy writers for future sitcoms.

The initiative, called NBC Comedy Playground, pledges to reach beyond traditional talent pools of film schools and comedy clubs by giving everyday people the chance to submit their ideas directly to the network.

Here's how it works: Comedy writers should submit two video samples of prior work running 5-10 minutes apiece, and two video pitches for original projects running 2-5 minutes a piece.

Be warned, they aren't looking for stupid pet tricks or grooms fainting at the alter. They want to see your best comedy writing in action.

An advisory board of producers and NBC affiliated comedy talent will select up to 10 finalists who will receive funding to produce a presentation. Two winners will be chosen from that group. They will see up to five episodes of their show to be produced for airing on NBC in the summer of 2015.

Aspiring writers can submit their videos to NBCComedyplayground starting on May 1.
