GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn--You may have noticed a new vodka has hit store shelves and some restaurants in the Twin Cities. It's called Aviv and although it is produced in Israel it has a distinctly Minnesota connection.
Aviv was created by Marc Grossfield who heads up Minneapolis based Tzfat Spirits of Israel.
Appearing on KARE 11 News at 4, Grossfield explained how AVIV 613 has deep historical roots, crafted by a family of Russian artisans who have been making vodka for centuries. Their ancestors moved to the Holy Land in 1824 and settled in the northern mountain town of Tzfat. Generations of master vodka artisans are a part of every bottle of AVIV making it unlike any other in the world.
Other vodkas are usually produced from one type of grain, but AVIV 613 is comprised of seven unique ingredients: wheat, barley, olives, figs, dates, grapes, and pomegranates. It took three years to develop AVIV 613's recipe with the perfect combination of ingredients, distillations and filtrations.
AVIV is available at major liquor and wine retailers throughout the Twin Cities.
