GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Autism doesn't come with a road map, but the Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) is there to help guide you to the right path. One of their biggest fundraisers for AuSM is coming up on March 2 called Steps of Hope.
Lisa Sieben, AuSM Steps of Hope Coordinator, joined KARE 11 News at 4 to share more on how families can join this year's walk.
Steps of Hope 2014 will take place on March 2 at Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka, Minn. AuSM invites individuals and families to "Team Up for Autism" and to join the Minnesota autism community for this fun, family-friendly event.
Schedule: 9:30 a.m. – Registration Opens
10 a.m.-12 p.m. – Walk Begins, Resource Tables, Fun Activities, Stage Show
Family-friendly activities will include fun hair, face painting, free snacks, a stage show and more. More than 60 sponsor tables placed throughout the walk-at-your-own-pace mall route will provide participants access to autism resources. It's a great opportunity to have fun, meet the community and gather valuable information.
Every dollar raised for AuSM directly benefits the Minnesota autism community through programs and services tailored to the needs of individuals, families and caregivers touched by autism. Dollars raised also fund Steps of Hope Support Grants awarded to schools, families and individuals to support projects related to enhancing the lives of individuals with autism in our local community.
