GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minneapolis Cider Week explores the diverse and delicious world of craft ciders through Saturday.
Tasting events and opportunities to try unique varietals will be held at Town Hall Tap, Town Hall Lanes and Town Hall Brewery throughout the week.

The first Minneapolis Cider Bicycle Crawl starts at 11 AM on Saturday, May 24. This self-guided tour through Minneapolis visits Town Hall Tap, Town Hall Lanes, Town Hall Brewery and Sociable Cider Werks. The first participant to complete the circuit at each location will receive a prize package worth $75.

Cider is not a new thing. Historians date Cider to the 1st century BC when Roman invaders discovered the local British people were drinking it and now it's their second most popular beverage after beer.
It's gaining lots of popularity in the states. In 2013, US craft cider sales grew by 80 percent. Cider is also a wonderful tasting gluten-free alternative to beer.
What is cider?
Hard cider is fermented juice from breeds of heritage apples. The fermentation happens when yeast eats the sugars.
Like wine, a cider's taste depends on many variables, such as apple varieties, growing region, soil characteristics, etc.
On Saturday May 24, the Cider Bicycle Crawl-
-Each participant gets a wristband and spoke card with a map of all 4 locations.
-People can start at any location. At each stop they get their wristband punched. No purchase necessary. First person to finish all 4 locations (Town Hall Lanes, Town Hall Tap, Town Hall Brewery and Socialable Cider Werks) gets a prize from the location they finish at! Prize valued at $75 with gift certificates and merchandise.
