FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – We all scream for ice cream, but how much do you know about everyone's favorite frozen treat?

Kowalski's Culinary Director, Rachael Perron, joined us at the KARE Barn with an ice cream quiz to see just how much you know. She also shared her favorite Kowalski's cookie pairings for creating DIY ice cream sandwiches.

ANSWERS

#1 ANSWER: a. gelato contains a lower ratio of cream to milk. Additionally it is usually denser and is served slightly warmer than ice cream.

#2 ANSWER: b. Sherbet contains dairy.

#3 ANSWER: b. 6-10°. It takes about 10 minutes for a full pint left at room temperature to reach this ideal serving temperature. Not only does it soften the ice cream, it allows the flavors to bloom and be more appreciable on the palate.

#4 ANSWER: a. Vanilla still accounts for about 30% of total ice cream sales. Chocolate is second.

#5 ANSWER: a. New Zealand consumes the most, followed closely by Australia and Denmark.

#6 ANSWER: c. This chocolate ice cream with almonds and marshmallows was created after the 1929 crash "to give folks something to smile about in the midst of the Great Depression." Interestingly, the creators of the flavor, William Dryer and Joseph Edy, used walnuts instead of almonds.

#7 ANSWER: a. He loved jellybeans and apparently, ice cream. Ronald Regan proclaimed the day in 1984.

#8 ANSWER: d. Baskin Robbins created Beatle Nut in 1964. It was a pistachio ice cream with a chocolate ribbon and walnuts.
