MINNEAPOLIS -- Chef Breck Lawrence from the Freehouse in Minneapolis stopped in the kitchen Saturday to share some delicious recipes.

Ciabatta French Toast:

Ingredients:

· Ciabatta bread 4 pieces

· French toast batter 4oz.

· Butter 1tbs.

· Whipped butter (serve) 1oz.

· Maple syrup (serve) 2oz.

1. Dredge bread in batter, place butter on hot griddle and spread

2. Place battered bread on buttered griddle and cook 2 minutes, flip and cook additional 2 minutes

3. Sprinkle liberally with powdered sugar

4. Serve with whipped butter, maple syrup

French toast batter:

· Eggs 6

· Powdered sugar 6oz.

· Heavy cream 1.5 cup

· Nutmeg ½ tsp.

· Cinnamon 1.5 tsp.

· Vanilla extract 1.5 tsp.

· Chili powder ½ tsp.

Using a wire whisk, whip the eggs until smooth. Mix in all remaining ingredients well in a mixing bowl making sure all ingredients are blended in, no pockets of spices.
