MINNEAPOLIS - Why serve plain 'ol dip with your chips when you can serve layers upon layers of flavors? Inspired Mexican Layered Taco Dip, Kowalksis Culinary Director Rachael Perron is offering up some new flavors from around the globe. You can also take your favorite prepared dips and spreads in the same general direction – just add some fresh veg, herbs, cheese and you'll have an entirely custom creation with the exact flavors you favor.

ITALIAN 11-LAYER DIP

8 oz. Kowalski's Herb Spread (from the Deli Department)

? cup olive tapenade

½ cup finely diced tomato

2-3 tbsp. finely chopped red onion, to taste

½ oz. finely chopped fresh basil

½ oz. finely chopped fresh Italian parsley

2 thinly sliced green onions

1-2 tsp. Kowalski's Extra Virgin Olive Oil, to taste

¼ lemon, in a wedge

- pine nuts, to taste

- freshly ground Kowalski's Black Peppercorns, to taste

- pita chips, for serving

Spread herb spread evenly on a 10-12" rimmed dinner plate or similarly sized serving platter; spread olive tapenade on top. Layer next 5 ingredients one at a time in the order listed. Drizzle with oil; squeeze lemon wedge over the plate. Garnish with pine nuts and pepper. Serve with pita chips.

Serves 6.

GREEK 10-LAYER DIP

8 oz. Kowalski's Hummus

½ cup prepared tzatziki

2 Roma tomatoes, diced

2-3 tbsp. finely chopped red onion, to taste

½ oz. finely chopped fresh mint

½ oz. finely chopped fresh Italian parsley

3 oz. crumbled feta cheese

1-2 tsp. Kowalski's Extra Virgin Olive Oil, to taste

¼ lemon, in a wedge

- freshly ground Kowalski's Black Peppercorns, to taste

- pita chips, for serving

Spread hummus evenly on a 10-12" rimmed dinner plate or similarly sized serving platter; spread tzatziki on top. Layer next 5 ingredients (through cheese) one at a time in the order listed. Drizzle with oil; squeeze lemon wedge over the plate. Garnish with black pepper. Serve with pita chips.

Serves 6.

THAI 10-LAYER DIP

4 oz. whipped cream cheese

½ cup peanut sauce

1 tsp. Sriracha sauce

¾ cup shredded carrot

½ cup finely diced peeled cucumber

½ oz. finely chopped fresh mint

½ oz. finely chopped fresh cilantro

2 thinly sliced green onions

1 ½ tsp. toasted sesame oil

½ lime

- sesame seeds, to taste

- crushed red pepper and/or or freshly ground black peppercorns, to taste

- pita or other chips or crackers, for serving

In a small mixing bowl, mix first 3 ingredients until smooth; spread mixture evenly on a 10-12" rimmed dinner plate or similarly sized serving platter. Layer next 5 ingredients (through green onions) one at a time in the order listed. Drizzle with oil; squeeze lime over the plate. Garnish with sesame seeds and crushed red pepper or black pepper. Serve with chips or crackers.

Serves 6.

INDIAN 10-LAYER DIP

6 oz. whipped cream cheese

1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1 ½ tsp. curry powder

½ tsp. garlic powder

½ cup mango chutney

¾ cup shredded carrot

½ cup finely diced tomato

¾ oz. finely chopped fresh cilantro

2 green onions, thinly sliced

1-2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil, to taste

½ lime

- cumin seeds, to taste

- freshly ground black peppercorns, to taste

- pita or other chips or crackers, for serving

In a small mixing bowl, mix first 4 ingredients until well blended. Spread mixture evenly on a 10-12" rimmed dinner plate or similarly sized serving platter; spread chutney on top. Layer next 4 ingredients one at a time in the order listed. Drizzle with oil; squeeze lime over the plate. Garnish with cumin seeds and pepper. Serve with chips or crackers.

Serves 6.
