MINNEAPOLIS - It's the height of salad season and Sue Moores from Kowalskis Markets shows us how you can make your salads memorable and enviable.

Mix up your greens. Lettuces are lovely, but add a few other greens to the bowl to add interest and flavor. Try: arugula, dandelion greens, watercress, kale, mustard greens, mache and raddichio. To increase their refrigerator life, wash greens once you bring them home; use salad spinner to remove excess water. Store in spinner or produce drawer.

Choose interesting add-ins. Try jicama, raw corn, raw beets, cooked grains, legumes, fruit, nuts, seeds and herbs.

Try your hand at making your own dressing. Standard oil to vinegar ratio: 2:1 or 3:1. Use extra virgin olive oil or try walnut or avocado oil. Select good quality vinegars; try flavored vinegars.
