Or was his inspiration a Canadian Mountie?

There's the newsboy, the fedora and the basic baseball hat.

Enter the Smokey the Bear.

Pharrell, a known fan of eyebrow-raising headgear, turned heads at the Grammys in a hat more typically suited for green forests than red carpets. (He capped off his outfit at Saturday's pre-Grammy gala with the same Mountie topper as well.)

But on the carpet, he paired the brown behemoth with a Royal Tenenbaums-ready red track jacket.

The creator of the capacious cap? Vivienne Westwood, Pharrell revealed to USA TODAY's Andrea Mandell.

But Pharrell's fashion statement wound up garnering publicity for a very different brand: Arby's. The sandwich chain tweeted: "Hey, @Pharrell, can we have our hat back? #GRAMMYS."

According to Adweek, that shoutout had been retweeted 75.000 times and acquired more than 40,000 favorites by Monday morning. (Contributing: Elysa Gardner)
