Eastview senior pitcher Evan DeCovich is a big man at 6-4, 260 pounds and he throws hard even with a slightly sore arm.
Last Monday, Evan fired a two hit shutout in the final high school game of his career striking out five and leading the Lightning to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Bemidji in the State 3A Baseball championship. He had a sore arm after pitching in both the state semifinal and quarterfinal games prior to the title game on Monday.
Evan finished the season with a pitching record of 8-2, but he saved his best for last.
Evan was also 2-for-2 at the plate in the championship game including a double and he later scored the game winning run.
Thanks in large part to Evan, Eastview won their first ever State Baseball title.
