LAKE ELMO, Minn. - Twenty years ago, Stillwater-based FamilyMeans kicked off its first-ever St. Croix Garden Tour, an event that has now awed and inspired attendees with feature gardens and creative ideas for two decades.
For the first time in the event's history, this year's tour will feature 11 residential gardens from previous years. One of these is the garden of Lake Elmo resident Tom DeGree, whose garden was also on the tour in 2008. Since then, Tom has taken the lead to chair the garden tour committee. Bobby and I had a chance to preview his garden, yard, and beautiful layout in Lake Elmo.
The St. Croix Garden Tour event proceeds support FamilyMeans, a nonprofit that provides counseling and mental health services; collaborative divorce; financial counseling and bankruptcy services; caregiver support; youth enrichment programs; and an employee assistance program. FamilyMeans reaches more than 23,000 people each year.
The tour runs Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
