ROCKVILLE, Minn. -- Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the town of Rockville early Sunday morning.
According to law enforcement, an altercation broke out around 4 a.m. at a home on Elm Street. The fight moved outdoors and a man was shot and killed by someone. The shooter fled to a nearby residence.
Police say that when they located the suspect, he came out of the building with a rifle, which he refused to put down. When he didn't respond to police commands, he was shot three times by police.
Authorities say the weapon the suspect used in the shooting was an SKS Assault Rifle with a scope. The Sheriff's Office says they are grateful that more people weren't hurt because, "this could have been a lot worse."
According to authorities, the suspect was taken to St. Cloud Hospital. His condition is unknown.
