MINNEAPOLIS -Homicide investigators in Minneapolis will be busy Monday, following up on two apparent murders that took place in less than 24 hours over the weekend.

The most recent case involves a man who police believe was shot to death Sunday night. Squads were dispatched to the 3900 block ofDupont Avenue North just after 10 p.m. on a call of aperson down.

When they arrived they found a man laying in the alley with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. First responders were unable to revive the victim. They pronounced him dead at the scene.

At this time police have no suspects in the case. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the victim's identity and his exact cause of death after an autopsy is complete.

On Saturday police were called toan alley behind the 3000 block of Girard Ave. N. around 11 p.m., andfound a man unresponsive. It appears the victim was brutally assaulted.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about either homicide or who may be responsible to call the department's Tips Line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
