BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The late November cold snap has some dreading the onset of another Minnesota winter.
The folks at Three Rivers Park District are not among them.
A significant dip in overnight temps is making conditions perfect for making snow at Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area (HSSA) and Elm Creek Park Reserve. Crews at both areas are shifting operations into overdrive to prepare the hills for winter enthusiasts.
At Hyland they have made several upgrades to improve snowmaking capacity and quality. Two thousand feet of additional underground pipe has been laid to get water to moreremote areas of the complex. HSSA has also addedfour new snow guns and a hill groomer to itssnowmaking fleet.
Three Riversofficials say they expect Hyland Ski and Snowboard area to be ready for action on Thursday,November 29. AtElm Creek Park Reserve, crews hope to have the ski, snowboard and tubing hills and the cross country trails covered, groomed and ready to go sometime in mid-December.
